One Deep Breath: Spring/Fall Songs

In my part of the world, srping has sprung and yet others are feeling autumnal. This evening the full moon is shining on me. It is the "pink" moon. Is it the "harvest" moon elsewhere in the world?

One Deep Breath suggested songs of the season...Poetry Thursday's prompt for Day Two of NaPoWriMo is "spiral". Jone says, "let's combine the two."

My offering:

Twilight lullaby
Zhweee*, zhweee*ethereal trills
Spirals towards dusk

(*from Birds of the Willamette Valley Region by Harry Nehls,Tom Aversa, and Hal Opperman)

we call it the harvest moon but its orange not pink. I love the zhweee and the ethereal trills. All the soft birdsongs you really need to have your ears open to hear...

I recognize Zhweee, zhweee, here in Washington! How wonderful to hear it in poetry. Nice!

Jone,
Neat to combine spiral with the returning sounds of spring bird-song. The return of the songs of spring lighten the heart.

My husband is trying to help me to differentiate among our birds' songs. The cardinal is my favorite this time of year with its throaty call, as if it can't bear to keep its joy inside another moment. Wonderful haiku!

What better lullaby? Very lovely.
I am familar with the Wilamette Valley, and even lived by the river for several months.

It was the birds songs that drove us to the front porch in the first place. I think I heard a few 'Zhweee's' while sitting and listening to them. I didn't know at the time that so many of us would be writing about Springs little noisemakers.
