Poetry Thursday: Image Inspired

Dragonfly @ Glen Echo, 2005

Momentary rest
Dragonfly tranquility
Blink - vanishes

Just this week, the photo cd which contained this image surfaced. I am so happy to have found it once again. It's one of my favorite photos as I love dragonflies.

There are more lovely images and poetry here.

P.S. I have been asked some questions about the community of blogging, would love your input. The questions are at this recent post. Thanks.

Love the haiku and photo. I especially like the hyphen in the last line.

Cool.

Love the photo, good timing.

The haiku is great, I like how it is unclear as to who's tranquility it is.

I think dragonflys are just mystical creatures- I always feel like one around me is some long lost relative of mine...

You've captured the dragonfly and its fleeting nature so well here.

One of the best haiku I've read. A beautiful photo, too. These made for a fine post!

Thank you for your comments, I am trying to break out of the 5-7-5 haikus. I agree that dragonflies are mystical.

When I was a kid we called them "helicopters" and chased all around reedy ponds. And why were they always there? I don't know. Great poem.

I love the way that your haiku takes us beyond the picture, reminds us of the fleeting nature of dragonflies (and everything else) and so encourages us to rest for a moment and enjoy the tranquility of your poem and photo. Really nice.
